HM The King, and Gabonese President Perform Friday Prayer at Hassan II Mosque in Libreville
His Majesty the King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, May God assist Him, and
the Gabonese President, M. Ali Bongo Ondimba, performed, on 7 March 2014, the Friday
prayer at the Hassan II mosque of Libreville, which was renovated by the Ministry of
Endowments and Islamic Affairs, in accordance with the High Royal Directives, costing a
total of 8 millions dirhams.
The sermon focused on the verse in which God says « And this is my path, leading straight, so
follow it », and the hadith of the Prophet Sidna Mohammed, Peace and Blessing upon Him,
« I left on the great path in which the night and the day are alike, and only deviates the
damned reprobate. »
In this regard, the Imam said: « And here is the Heir of the Prophet’s lights, may the prayer
and salvation be upon Him, the Commander of the Faithful, a descendant of the Commanders
of the Faithful, Mohammed VI, may God assist Him and grant Him victory. May God spread
His name and memory among the people, here He comes among us, to remind us of these
beneficial principles, disseminate and ensure the triumph of the path of His chosen ancestor,
may the prayer and salvation be upon Him. »
He added : « His visit brought us joy, such joy is seen on people’s faces who came out to
greet Him and to welcome Him, while mouths do not dry up from imploring God to grant
Him His gifts, to reward Him for his dedication and generosity. We praise God and thank
Him for His Greatness and Generosity », added the Imam.
The Imam also stated that one of the benefits that deserves continuous appreciation, lies in
the unity among Muslims and the communion of their hearts.
“We are witnessing a blessed day from God, because Muslims have become unified, the
voices and hearts have welcomed the arrival of the Commander of the Faithful Mohammed
VI, whose visit, thanks to God, is a matter of happiness for our nation, a matter of uniting our
voices and communion of our hearts. The individuals and the community have become
acquainted with His grace and reaffirmed the evidence of His descent from His ancestor, the
chosen Prophet”, said the Imam.
He then stated, “the Commander of the Faithful came to visit us, thus recalling the promises
and the covenants, renewing faith, encouraging action, building, and development, which
contribute to people’s capacity building.
“He is, may God assist Him, among us to perform the Friday prayer in this Mosque – built by
piety and under the guidance of God -, by His August father, the King Hassan II, may God
bless Him”, said the Imam.
At the end of his sermon, the Imam of the Mosque yearned to God to preserve His Majesty
the King, to raise His rank, and to grant Him grace. « God, grant Him a victory that
reinforces the religion, which brings together Muslims », pursued the Imam.
After the Friday prayer, His Majesty the King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful,
may God assist Him, donated 10,000 copies of the Holy Koran, to the Gabonese in charge of
the management of the religious affairs.
These copies, published by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Holy Koran Publishing, will
be handed out to different mosques in the Republic of Gabon.
This is the first batch of the Holy Quran copies offered as part of the implementation of the
High Royal Directives, to meet the needs, by this Foundation, of the mosques of the countries
in the region, in copies of the Holy Quran, based on the Warsh version from Nafie, followed
