Launch of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema competition of the memorization, recitation and psalmody of the Holy Quran – 2nd edition – Virtual format
The final stage of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema competition of the memorization, recitation and psalmody of the Holy Quran was launched today (18 Ramadan 1442 AH corresponding to May, 01, 2021). Due to the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, this final has been exceptionally organized in a virtual format this year.
The preselected participants in the first phase of the competition organized at the level of the Foundation’s thirty-four sections reaches eighty-six participants. All of them will compete for four days for the first places in the three categories of the competition:
- Entire memorization with recitation in the Riwayat of Warsh An Naafe (21);
- Entire memorization with recitation in the Riwayat chosen by the candidate (styles of Quranic recitation) (32);
- Quran psalmody (Tajweed) with the memorization of at least five Ahzab from the Quran (33).
A jury composed of a group of professors and specialists supervises the final phase of the competition from the city of fez with technical systems the Foundation has made sure to put in place for the jury and the participants in the sections of the Foundation.
Through this competition, the Foundation seeks to link young people and African Muslim youth to the Holy Quran, and encourage them to preserve it, memorize it and recite it.
