Sheikh Mamadou Traore : new president of the Supreme Council of Imams in Cote d’Ivoire
On Friday, May 29th, 2020, Imam Mamadou Traore was appointed as the new president of the Supreme Council of Imams, Mosques and Islamic Affairs in the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire, succeeding Sheikh Boikary Fofana, may God have mercy on him.
Sheikh Traore was born in 1944. He is an alumnus of Ain Shams University in Cairo, and has a long professional experience in banking sector. Also, he held the position of professor of Arabic language at the National University in Abidjan between 1980 and 1983.
Since 2001, he has been the Imam of the Grand Mosque in Rivera Golf (Gulf River).
In addition, he is a member of the Higher Council of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema.
