Maryam Bint Sheikh Ibrahim Niass, “The Servant of Quran”, moved to the mercy of Allah, on Sunday, Jumada Al Awal 11th, 1442 H, corresponding to December 27th, 2020 in the Republic of Senegal.

Maryam Niass was born in 1932 in the city of Kaolack in Senegal. Then, she memorized the Qur’an at an early age, and began studying Arabic and Islamic sciences with her father, Sheikh Ibrahim Niass.

“The Servant of Quran” had a high position in her country and the Islamic world for her great services in teaching and memorizing the Qur’an, and for establishing one of the largest institutes for teaching the Holy Qur’an in the Senegalese capital, Dakar.

On this painful occasion, the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema extends its deepest and sincere condolences to all members of her family, the brotherly Senegalese people and all Muslims in general.
